TYDKaWoW #009 | Garrosh's big Invasion Army isn't real

When you first come to Draenor, Garrosh's Army is waiting for you. You can see hundreds of them all looking at you in the distance, as well as being attacked by a few close by. And those are the only real threat there is, because the Army in the distance is only made out of cardboard?



Either this is a trick by Garrosh himself, like the Dummy Tanks during the World War. With inflatable and cardboard tanks, both sides tried to trick each other, into thinking that there were greater numbers of artillery around, than there really was. Or its just Blizzard saving resources with Billboarding.

"In three-dimensional scenes, the term billboarding is applied to a technique in which objects are sometimes represented by two-dimensional images applied to a single polygon [...] This technique was commonly used in early 1990s video games when consoles did not have the hardware power to render fully 3D objects."

Whatever the reason, they aren't real and can't hurt you. Sleep well.

    his is a fun piece of WoW trivia. The cardboard army in Draenor is a great detail — it's either a clever trick by Garrosh or a clever trick by Blizzard to save resources. The billboarding technique is a classic game development trick. It's always interesting to see how developers use clever workarounds to create immersive worlds.

Opening | 100x Thorium Lockbox

You get Thorium Lockboxes  from Mobs lvl 45-60 and they can contain about everything mobs of that level range could drop. Of course only green, rare or epic loot (except this bag ) and you'll get 1-3 Items out of one. You need Lockpicking skill 225 for them so any rogue lvl 45+ or a Engineer/Blacksmith with the right item can open it. This is what I got out of 100: 61x Transmog Gear (300.62G per) 29x Disenchant Items (25.31G per) 6x Vendor Items (9.78G) 6x Recipes (~25G per) 2x  Traveler's Backpack (49.82G per) 2x Star Ruby (5.60G per) 1x Aquamarine (4.14G per) =192.47G per Lockbox Without Transmog and disenchant instead =24.53G per Lockbox Don't forget to get the Glyph of Pick Lock  if you want to open as many as I did - I stood over 8minutes there just picking locks....

Gold Guide | Locations of all Vendor Recipes

I made an Addon to Guide you to all the BoE Recipes. Nicornvendors . It works with TomTom and displays the Recipe Name under the Waypoint Arrow, sometimes even with a little note to guide you. The Waypoints were chosen on how accessible they are, so we only get each recipe one time in the easiest location for it. I hope you like the addon. Change the Waypoint so you can start where you want.  The Waypoint will always point toward the same after set up (e.g. Daleohm - Plans: Frostguard in Kalimdor) - to change that right click on the point you want and then "Set as waypoint arrow". 2021/01/01 - The addon is outdated. As I'm no longer playing the game, I won't fix it. But I found the original excel table, which I used to collect the data. Gold Guide | Farming Scholomance - 8,700G/hr

Here is some Information for you, if you're thinking about farming Scholomance for Gold. The Instance is located on the Island in the middle of Western Plaguelands. Walk inside the building and turn left at the first chance, to open a door and find the Instanceportal. Inside we are greeted by two Skeleton guards, which we pull with us into the next room. Here you have to pull all mobs around the first encounter, because everything that isn't in fight before the encounter starts, dies without yielding any loot. The second room has a lot of mobs, but only the cultists and reanimated corpses give you loot. I run through the corridors, get the mobs and kill the boss at the end of the room so we can continue. The third room starts off with 6 Boneweavers scattered around it, which you have to kill in order to spawn the boss of the room. Room number four only contains trash, which I pull into the next room with Lilian Voss. Mining Route | Adamantite & Korium Ore

We are farming on the Isle of Quel'Danas. This is the route we will be farming and it's not that hard to follow because there are only about 13 spawn points that respawn fast enough so you can just run around the isle over and over and over again. Since Khorium shares their spawn points with rich Adamantite you will also get this if you farm long enough. You won't have competition either because people only go on the isle for Sunwell Plateau or Magisters' Terrace. My result of 15 minutes farming: 74 Adamantite Ore (5.26G per) 24 Mote of Earth (0.52G per) 4 Eternium Ore (0.13G per at the vendor) 1 Shadow Draenite (13.5G per) 1 Deep Peridot (8.98G per) =1698.88 Gold/Hour I'm selling Eternium Ore because you most likely won't find a buyer for that.
